Painting: My Art Story by Morgan, 6th

My Art Story

By: Morgan K.

I first started to paint and draw when I was a toddler. My mom got me started at our old
house. There we had a concrete wall and she would give us paints and paint brushes,
we would paint on it. I don't really ever practice, I just think of something to draw or
paint and try my best to do it. An obstacle I face is I get frustrated if the drawing or paint
ing does not look good. And even if my family says it looks good I am an obstacle to
myself because I usually disagree with them. I say things like this sucks and more.

I have always been artistic and nothing has really inspired me to do it. None of my family
practices this type of art but being artistic is in my genes because my mom was always
making things when she was young. I admire my older sister Mackenzie. I admire her
because she is an amazing, and awesome artist. For example she drew a picture of my
puppy Sophie. And in her art class in highschool she always makes these amazing clay
pieces. They have a very cool look with the patterns and the paints that blend together.
I don't take any lessons. All of my family supports me in my art. They always know what
to say. I do my art alone and by that I mean I don't practice with a group or anything like
that it is really just me and my art. My art to me is a complete, amazing thing once finished,
but this comes after I think I did a horrible job. My art is important to me because it is
something I completed by myself with no help at all.

I don't ever say a message in my art but I do show that if you dont ever try you may never
know that you are good at what you don't try. I am learning that I am actually surprisingly
good at painting. When I was younger I practiced coordination by trying to stay in the lines.
But not by strength or mind. I don't really ever see my art being part of my future but maybe
being an art teacher.
