My Art Story by Addison K.
I have enjoyed painting my whole life. I started learning how to do this type of art
when I was about 5 or 6 years old and have slowly gotten better over the years with
practice. The thing that got me started was that my family likes to paint so we would
paint as a family project. Practices for this type of art in my family involve newspapers
all over our kitchen table (so we don’t get paint on the table) and us all sitting around
with paint on our plates and canvas to paint on. I do face some obstacles when I am
painting. An example of an obstacle that I face is that whenever I make a mistake on
the painting and have to figure out a way to make it look like I meant to do it.

Also a lot of times the person that I am painting for likes nature just as much as I do so
I like to paint nature related paintings. My sister, Hailey, my mom, and my dad all paint
with me. My grandma also truly loves arts and crafts of all sorts. My mom is an artist
that I truly admire. She paints such beautiful paintings that truly show in her paintings
how beautiful and relaxing the outdoors can be, and does a great job in every single one
of her masterpieces.

The skills that I am learning are patience and getting better at painting. I am developing
coordination by painting. It has helped my hand/eye coordination because doing this
helped me draw straighter lines. Then it helped my coordination in my mind by helping
me learn patience. This helped me learn patience because I had to keep waiting for the
paint to dry before I could keep going. I had to learn these skills in order to make this
beautiful painting and have the message come into play to where you can see the true
beauty. I can see this doing this type of art in my future because I like to paint as a hobby,
so I can see myself in the future doing an occasional painting every once in a while when
I get older. In conclusion, painting has always been one of my favorite hobbies,
especially during a pandemic.
